‘Self-proclaimed Busan Ambassadors’ Team Busan Wins Suwon City Sports Chairman’s Cup

Team Busan basketball class wins the Suwon City Sports Chairman’s Cup.

Team Busan, which opened a dedicated gym in Gangseo-gu, Busan, in April, has been at the forefront of promoting the city through the medium of basketball. The self-proclaimed ambassadors of Busan, Team Busan recently traveled to Suwon as part of its efforts to expand its reach across the country.

The team traveled to Suwon for two days and three nights, where they spent time training with elite basketball teams, taking part in daily skills training lessons, 텍사스홀덤 and competing in tournaments.

On the first day of the tournament, the team held a joint training session and scrimmage with the Suwon Hwaseocho. The next day, Team Busan participated in the 2024 Suwon City Sports Chairman’s Cup Youth Basketball Tournament in the morning and had another skill training lesson at the Pro Academy (CEO: Park Chan-sung) in the afternoon and another practice game with Hwaseocho.

Team Busan was the only non-metropolitan team at the 2024 Suwon City Sports Chairman’s Cup Youth Basketball Tournament, where a total of six teams participated. After finishing the preliminary round as the group leader with two wins, Team Busan went undefeated in the final tournament.

Playing with players in grades 4 and 5, Team Busan showed off their superiority and finished with a sweep. With this victory, Team Busan has taken the first step toward becoming a national basketball classroom.

“We wanted to give the players an experience in a new environment, away from the familiarity of practicing and training, so we went to Suwon to participate in the tournament,” said a Team Busan official, explaining the reason for participating in the tournament. “We were able to learn the finer points of basketball through joint training with Suwon Hwaseocho, and we built a close relationship with basketball through skill training classes. The biggest gain was that our players’ confidence was boosted by winning the tournament. I think it was a tournament that created good memories for the players,” he said, reflecting on their time in Suwon.

Meanwhile, middle school students from Team Busan won the Gyeongsan Mayor’s Cup 3X3 basketball tournament held in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, on the 18th and 19th of this month.
