KT TARGETS SECOND-TEAM PITCHER FOR ‘NATURAL ENEMY’ HANWHA, “WHO IS SECRET”

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) KT Wiz will make a targeted start against the Hanwha Eagles, who have been outclassed by their opponents this season. Ahead of the team’s upcoming game against the 2023 KBO Doosan Bears at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Friday, KT manager Lee Kang-cheol said the team is considering a second-team pitcher as a replacement for ace Ko Young-pyo, who was expunged from the first-team roster to manage his physical condition. “We had a tough game against Hanwha,” Lee said, “so we are preparing a good player for the second team.”When asked about the player, Lee laughed, saying, “It’s a secret. “KT removed Ko from the first team roster on Nov. 13. The move was made to give Ko some breathing room after his last 11 consecutive quality starts (six innings or less). The move is aimed at the second half of the season and the postseason, when the standings will be more competitive. KT hopes to capitalize on the surprise start .KT will call up a second-team pitcher to start against Hanwha on April 18, the same day as Ko Young-pyo’s scheduled start. The reasoning behind the move is that Hanwha, which has a lot of young talent, could struggle early in the game if they use an unfamiliar type of pitcher .KT will keep the starting pitcher against Hanwha a secret until the game on the 18th, when they will announce their starting pitcher .The reason KT is so concerned about the 스포츠토토링크 three-game series with Hanwha is because they have struggled in the series this season .While third-place KT has performed well against the top teams, including the first-place LG Twins (5-5), second-place SSG Landers (7-3), and fourth-place NC Dinos (9-6), it has struggled against the bottom team, Hanwha, with three wins, four losses, and one tie .It was a one-sided affair with one win, four losses and one draw before winning both games of a two-game series against Hanwha on Aug. 8-9.”In the three-game series (on Aug. 18-20), Hanwha will have two foreign starters and homegrown ace Moon Dong-ju,” Lee said, vowing to “fight well.”
