Lotte appointed Jang Won-chul, a professor of statistics at Seoul National University, as an advisor to the R&D team. Starting on the 1st, Professor Jang Won-chul will serve as an advisor to the club’s R&D team for a year and advise on the overall analysis of player data.
The club said, “Through this agreement, we expect to upgrade data analysis by sharing feedback and development directions for existing analysis results and jointly studying the link between performance of other leagues such as MLB (American Professional Baseball) and NPB (Japanese Professional Baseball).”
The R&D team also plans to participate in career exploration seminars in various fields at Seoul National University, conduct presentations, and participate in major internship programs jointly with the department. 안전놀이터
Professor Jang said, “I want to walk once again with Lotte on the path of a baseball data analyst, which was my childhood dream as a fan of weekly baseball.” Like Professor Jim Albert of Bowling Green University, we want to contribute to data-based baseball analysis.”
Jang, a former president of the Korea Baseball Organization, earned a Ph.D. in statistics from Carnegie Mellon University and is now a professor of statistics at his alma mater, Seoul National University.
