PEN Entertainment, Inc. announced that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the future Hollywood casino Aurora on November 29, 2023 at 2:45 p.m. A brand-new land casino, hotel, and entertainment facility will replace the company’s nearby Riverboat Casino once completed.
The $360 million local destination is being developed adjacent to the Chicago Premium Outlet, which attracts more than 8 million visitors each year and is conveniently located near Interstate 88 in Aurora. The best-in-class facilities will feature approximately 1,200 game spaces, approximately 220 rooms, retail sportsbooks, outdoor entertainment spaces, full-service spas, luxury bars and restaurants, conference venues, and an event center of approximately 12,000 square feet with approximately 1,700 parking spaces. The company expects to create 700 construction jobs and 700 permanent jobs at the new facility, nearly double the company’s current team members in Aurora. 온라인경마
“We are excited to start construction on the new, state-of-the-art Hollywood casino Aurora soon,” said Jay Snowden, CEO and president of PEN Entertainment. “Our incredibly long-running partnership with the city of Aurora has provided an opportunity to significantly improve our offerings and relocate our property to an ideal location that will have a positive economic impact on our communities.”
The Aurora development involved the transfer of certain parcels of land from the city and up to $50 million of the project will be funded by the city through the issuance of new bonds. A law that allows the transfer of Kangseon casinos signed in 2019 to land presupposes the transfer to land. Aurora’s existing Hollywood casino Aurora, located on the Fox River in downtown Aurora, will remain in normal operation while new land infrastructure is being built, which is expected to take about 24 months.
Greg Moore, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino Aurora, said, “We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our team members and many key stakeholders who have helped get us to this point.” “This is an exciting start to our next chapter, and we can’t wait to welcome Chicago Land’s residents and visitors to the new Hollywood Casino Aurora when it’s completed.”
The company invited the Illinois Gaming Board, the Illinois General Assembly, the mayor of Aurora and the city council, labor groups and other local stakeholders to the groundbreaking ceremony.
The new Hollywood Casino Aurora is part of a previously announced plan consisting of four new growth projects: Joliet, Illinois, Columbus, Ohio, and Henderson, Nevada. Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. has spent $575 million on four growth projects, totaling $850 million.
