PSY responds to criticism over weight loss with humorous apology video

Singer PSY recently attracted attention with an “apology video” posted on his social media, addressing criticism over him losing some weight.

PSY uploaded Sunday a video on his social media with the caption, “After receiving harsh criticism for weight loss and being called ’emaciated’ by a fan,” explaining the situation.

In the video, PSY is seen diligently eating pork soup and boiled pork at a restaurant in the southeastern city of Daegu.

“As the fans at Daegu’s first concert said, I looked emaciated, so I devoured pork soup with shrimp sauce, kimchi and chili peppers, topped with scallions and spicy seasoning in a fit of anger. I drank the broth like it was tears.”

Adding some humor, PSY concluded, “I will get back on track,” referring to the criticism he received previously for not maintaining his weight during a break.

Known for fluctuating body weight, PSY faced a backlash when he lost weight, with some accusing him of neglecting his physical well-being.

At that time, he promised to return to his fuller figure, saying, “Too many people were disappointed, so I will start managing my weight again.”

Back in April 2022, when PSY appeared on JTBC’s “Knowing Bros,” Kang Ho-dong also criticized him, saying, 커뮤니티 “You completely failed at managing yourself. You’ve lost weight; you need to maintain your figure.”

To this, PSY said, “It’s a bit sad, but no matter how much I danced before, my body would stay the same. Now, when I dance, I lose weight.”

When the show’s host Seo Jang-hoon speculated, “You’re more health-conscious now, right? Eating organic salads?” PSY replied, “Not really, but I have reduced my alcohol intake.”
